1. The Embassy of Denmark is looking for a Product Specialist / Purchasing Agent to work for the Danish company Dymak A/S

Position: Product Specialist / Purchasing Agent

The Embassy of Denmark assists the Danish company Dymak A/S in the recruitment of a dynamic and result oriented product specialist / purchasing agent to support their existing global sourcing organization. The selected candidate will refer to the Global Supply Chain Manager in Denmark and will be working to deepen and expand their existing cooperation with production companies in Bangladesh within the segment of home & garden styling, accessories for plants and flowers etc.

Dymak develops and sources unique accessories for companies in the House & Garden segment worldwide. Dymak does this by having a global network of suppliers, who have the flexibility to customize production according to the needs of its customers. Dymak wants to add value to its clients through well-designed and unique accessories for plants and flowers, affordable to the average consumer.

Main tasks and responsibilities as a Product Specialist / Purchasing Agent:

The day-to-day tasks include but may not be limited to:
• To identify potential suppliers based in Bangladesh mainly in textile material and in products ranging from baskets, rugs etc
• To negotiate prices. It is of utmost importance that Dymak´s sales offices receive the best possible price. The Dymak staff receiving the price might not know which price is correct and will just pass on the quote to their customers. Dymak will lose the order and face value as well, if the price received is not competitive, and they might lose the customer forever.
• To ensure fast samples; the sample is often the main tool to making a sale. The sales staff will mention the date of sample dispatch, when they ask for a sample. If this date is not realistic, you must revise that date, so that the date mentioned in the system is correct. This is important, because the customer expect to receive the sample a few days after that date
• To conduct Quality control by using Dymak´s Quality-control-system. To ensure both delivery on time, correct humidity in the natural products etc, both pre-production, mid-term and final inspection might be needed
• To process requests (Request For Quote = RFQ) through the Dymak portal
• To plan and guide Dymak staff when they visit
• To establish an organization locally when sales are up
• To promote and establish relationships with stakeholders working in textile, as well as industrial players within the category of baskets and rugs exporting to countries in Europe
• To participate in marketing events and exhibitions

Required qualifications:

The preferred candidate should have experience in trading within the textile industry and primarily within the baskets and rugs industry.

• The candidate must have a sound technical understanding and interest to work with technical solutions pertaining to baskets and rugs
• The candidate must have a good background and network in the said industries
• The candidate must have the capacity and ability to visit and communicate with factory workers as well as architects, developers, creators in the said industries
• The right candidate must be highly disciplined, hardworking and self-motivated. The ability to speak and write in English and Bengali fluently is a must
• Experience in sales management and marketing in said industries will be given highest priority

Employment conditions:

2. The Development Team of the Danish Embassy is looking for a Programme Adviser focusing on Climate, Green Energy and Agricultural Growth

Position: Programme Adviser
Type of employment: One year, full time employment on a local contract based on the Staff Rules of the Embassy and with the possibility of extension
Location: Danish Embassy in Dhaka, Bay´s Edgewater, 6th floor, Gulshan 2

Denmark and Bangladesh have been partners since Bangladesh gained independence in 1971. The current strategic objectives of the partnership include 1) Contribute to inclusive and sustainable growth 2) Enhance resilience of selected vulnerable and marginalised groups, including Rohingya refugees and affected host communities as well as groups prone to irregular migration, and 3) Promote shared values in terms of democracy, good governance, human rights and gender equality.

The Embassy’s Development Team is implementing the Bangladesh Country Programme (BCP) 2016-2022 in partnerships with government agencies, the UN, NGOs, civil society and the private sector. The Programme Adviser will be engaged in this team and contribute to the daily running, but with a special focus on the climate, green energy and agricultural development portfolio.

Main tasks and responsibilities
• Overall, to contribute to the successful implementation of the BCP
• On a day-to-day basis, to manage selected BCP projects related to agricultural growth and green transition in accordance with Danida’s Aid Management Guidelines. This includes:
o ensuring that appropriate and timely results based and financial monitoring of partnerships and partner activities is taking place;
o ensuring that appropriate and timely follow-up on partners’ obligations, including in relation to activity and financial progress reporting is taking place;
o assessing and evaluating partner progress reporting (activity and financial) and ensuring that these are disseminated in the appropriate Danida systems;
o making sure that partnerships are on track (including budget wise) and proactively mitigating situations where the partnership interventions are going off track;
o proactively ensuring that relevant recommendations from HQ financial and programmatic monitoring visits, reviews and other quality assurance missions are being followed up satisfactorily;
o ensuring that all appropriate documentation as to the above is thoroughly documented, achieved and uploaded in relevant Danida systems.
• Generally, to widen and deepen the Embassy’s knowledge and resource base in relation to the role of the climate, green growth and agricultural sectors in relation to inclusive and sustainable development of the economy, including opportunities and challenges in relation to the embassy’s engagements.
• Specifically, to widen and deepen the Embassy’s knowledge and resource base in relation to agri-focused private sector development with an emphasis on value chain development and  making the markets work better for the poor
• To maintain, widen and deepen the network with project partners and stakeholders, including other development partners, government officials, NGO’s, relevant research specialists and others in order to stimulate knowledge generation and support project implementation
• To conduct project monitoring and field visits to relevant project activities and participate in various review and quality assurance missions (as the situation allows)
• To assist the Embassy in enhancing its efforts to better communicate relevant results of the development cooperation to the wider public, both in Denmark and in Bangladesh

General responsibilities and abilities
• Possess a broad worldview in line with the values of the Joint Nordic Embassies/Embassy of Denmark/Danida and respect the diversity of the staff
• Ability to work as part of a “whole-of-Embassy” effort with the aim to strengthen the partnership between Denmark and Bangladesh, inclusive of diplomacy, trade, development and consular matters
• Be willing to take up assignments beyond one’s own specific responsibilities and work with, liaise with and support colleagues from other teams if need be
• Work in line with rules on good administrative behaviour and in line with relevant Danida guidelines, especially when handling various information and archiving material
• Follow the security regulations of the Embassy as well as the regime for Occupational Safety and Health

Requirements and expectations concerning the candidates’ formal qualifications:
• Education at university level (Master’s Degree) in development economics, development studies, social/political science or the like
• At least 7 years of experience working with development programmes and projects, preferably from another development partner/aid agency
• experience with green transition and/or agri-focused private sector development with a focus on market linkages and value chain development
• Extensive project management and administration experience from same or similar field
• Fluency in spoken and written English

Employment conditions

• Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results
• As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme
