The Danish Embassy is looking for a Trade Associate to join the Trade Council 

Position: Trade Associate  
Type of employment: One-year full time employment on a local consultancy contract with the possibility of extension
Starting date: Tentatively 1st August 2021 
Location: Danish Embassy in Dhaka, Bay´s Edgewater, 6th floor, Gulshan 2.

The Embassy is seeking to hire a dynamic and result oriented full time Trade Associate to join the Trade Council team (TC Dhaka), based at the Embassy of Denmark in Dhaka. The main objective of TC Dhaka is to promote Danish commercial interests in Bangladesh. We do this by assisting Danish companies in a variety of activities ranging from developing market studies and market entry strategies to executing partner and customer searches, engaging in PR activities and creating awareness events.

This is an entry-level position where you will be working with a team of three ambitious, seasoned and hardworking Commercial Advisers who strive to provide high value returns to our partner companies. The candidate will work closely with other teams at the Embassy: Development / Consular / Visa / Communication and Finance / Administration and will also be expected to work closely with our TC colleagues in South Asia and when required, in other regions. Our drive and motivation is to build strong relationships with our Danish partner companies and grow exports to Bangladesh and South Asia. The candidate is expected to show the flexibility required for optimal handling of the entire portfolio of the Embassy and thus be ready to contribute to handling tasks outside one’s own portfolio.

Main tasks and responsibilities as Trade Associate  

As a Trade Associate, the focus will be to assist the TC Dhaka team in strengthening its sector specific and technical knowledge by gathering market intelligence, handling social media communication and organizing networking events, exhibitions, seminars/webinars to develop stronger local linkages. 

The candidate will also support the Trade Advisers in Dhaka to assist some of the largest Danish companies as well as a wide range of small and medium sized companies entering or expanding their market presence in the region. The day - to - day, tasks include assisting in:

Identifying and establishing business-to business contacts
• Gathering, analysing and presenting information on market and financing opportunities 
• Preparing market/partner reports
• Organizing events and delegations 
• Planning and setting up company visits
• Providing support to promotional activities

Required qualifications
• University degree, preferably a Master’s degree in Economics or Business Administration 
• 2-3 years of full-time professional experience (after graduation) in market research, business development, consultancy, procurement and/or international business 
• Preferably international experience
• Strong interest in business and financial development 
• Proactive work ethics and analytical mind-set with an ability to think creatively
• Ability to work independently and as a team member, often under time constraints 
• A structured mind-set and excellent planning and coordination skills 
• Excellent command of English and Bangla - both oral and written 
• IT proficiency and excellent, advanced level skills on using Microsoft Office/ Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point, amongst others
• Ability to foster and maintain networks

Desired qualifications
• Good knowledge of financing and economic modalities will be considered an advantage.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Publisher will be considered an advantage

Employment conditions
• You will be offered one-year full time consultancy contract with the possibility of extension 
• The position is subject for initial 3 months’ probation period. The candidate will share office space with the Trade team of the Embassy and shall report to the Commercial Counsellor and the Trade team, as required.  
• Working hours 37 hours per week
• The candidate’s salary will reflect their qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results
• Possibility of annual performance bonus

The chosen candidate must present a Bangladeshi police clearance and pass the security clearance by the Danish authorities, prior to appointment.
