The IT sector has been recognized as one of the most prominent industry’s in the country and is forecasted to reach USD 5 billion by 2025. The IT Sector in Bangladesh is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country and is well represented by software development and IT-enabled service (ITES) including business process outsourcing (BPO) service and ecommerce.

Export earnings in the sector surpassed USD 1 billion in 2019 and the earnings are further enhanced by a massive pool of online workers.

• MFS services processes approximately BDT 22 billion per day in Bangladesh

• 18,697 agent banking outlets 

• 14% of merchants accept money through MFS on a regular basis 

• 36% female above 15 years have account in a financial institution
