A Food & Agriculture Delegation Comprising Danish Companies Visits Dhaka!
Last week, the Trade Council in Dhaka hosted a delegation of eight Danish companies, all of whom are active in the food, agriculture or aquaculture sectors: Aller Aqua, Andritz, Arla Foods, CT-Technologies, Haarslev, Secco, SkioldLandmeco and Skov.
The delegation was a joint effort between the Danish Embassy and the Danish Agriculture and Food Council (Landbrug & Fødevarer), with an ambitious three-day programme.
On the first day, the Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh, H.E. Winnie Estrup Petersen welcomed the delegation at the Embassy in Dhaka, followed by a packed schedule of individual B2B meetings between the Danish and Bangladeshi companies, all hosted at the Embassy. The meetings were followed by an insightful panel session, discussing the investment possibilities and the regulatory environment in Bangladesh in presence of BFSA, BIDA, BSTI and FAO.
The delegation later went on an early-morning field trip outside of Dhaka to visit two local food producers: Paragon Poultry and Dutch Dairy. These visits allowed the Danish companies to get a first-hand experience of what the agricultural sector in Bangladesh looks like and what the opportunities are for Danish investment.
As part of the visit, the delegation also attended a Food&Agro symposium at the Sheraton Hotel, hosted by the Nordic Embassies, the Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). The event featured speeches by both the Danish Ambassador, the Sector Counsellor for food & agro at the Danish embassy, Mrs Maria Knudsen and the Bangladesh Minister of Agriculture H.E. Mr. Mohammad Abdur Razzauque, MP.
Three panel sessions were held during the symposium discussing investment opportunities in Bangladesh, the challenges and way forward with participants from the government, private sector and the Danish companies.
The Embassy of Denmark in Dhaka expresses its gratitude to all the partners and stakeholders involved in making the 2023 Food and Agro Business Delegation a success!
