Denmark Alumni Network in Dhaka

The Embassy of Denmark in Bangladesh with the Danida Fellowship Centre welcomed Bangladeshi alumni from Danish institutions to start the local alumni network.  

The Embassy of Denmark in Bangladesh recently hosted Bangladeshi alum of Danish institutions. Over 30 alum were present in the event to explore interest and opportunities for collaboration. There are a total 120 Bangladeshi alum known to the Embassy from over 1500 total Bangladeshi who studied in Denmark since 2000.

Ms. Annette Kaalund-Jørgensen, Danida Fellowship Centre and Mohammad Bakhtiar Rana, Associate Professor of International Business and Strategy of Aalborg University came from Denmark to attend and welcome the alumni to the event. The Danish Ambassador Winnie Estrup Petersen opened the event with her welcome remarks, highlighting the positive exchange of knowledge and expertise between the two countries epitomized by the large number of Bangladeshis that have gone to Denmark for education or training.

The Commercial Counsellor Jacob Kahl Jepsen spoke about the Danish business perspective. He expressed the niche need for Danish educated/trained professionals in the private sector as Danish investment and partnerships continue to increase in Bangladesh. Sector Counsellor Søren Asbjørn Albertsen guided the event and facilitated the alumni in developing mechanisms and strategies to form the alumni network in Bangladesh. The group discussions were followed by the establishment of a working group, which will take the initiative forward.
